In celebration of the School Library Month we are excited to welcome a huge supporter of libraries, author and storyteller Donna Washington. Donna Washington is an internationally known, multiple award winning storyteller, spoken word recording artist, and author. A highly animated performer, she has been entertaining, educating, and inspiring audiences with her vocal pyrotechnics, elastic face, and deep characterizations that bring folklore, literary tales, and personal narratives to life for over thirty years.

Donna Washington has been a supporter of NCSLMA since the beginning!

This is a fantastic opportunity to connect, learn, and engage with colleagues from across the state.

Hello everyone! I am excited to introduce Page Turners, the NCSLMA Grown-Up Book Club!

This idea grew from Brew Crew (if you're not attending Brew Crews, you really should - we talk about a LOT of stuff). We brainstormed and thought this format could work best for our members.

This a crowd-sourced book club. We will meet monthly on the 3rd Saturday of each month at 9:30am with a new book at each meeting. The book titles will be submitted and voted on by people who sign up. We use rank-choice voting to decide the winner. :-)

2027 Nominations for NCSLMA President-Elect (Fri, May 01, 2026)

NCSLMA is seeking nominations for President-Elect!

We are looking for school librarians who are willing and able to take the next step of leadership and help guide NCSLMA's vision and mission to continue supporting, empowering, and promoting school librarians of North Carolina. If you are passionate about school librarianship, please consider nominating yourself to run for President-Elect.

While most of our elections will take place in the fall, we hold our elections for the position of President-Elect in the spring. This will allow the 2027 President-Elect to shadow the current President-Elect and Conference Director in the conference planning for the remainder of this year.

A general job description can be found in our Bylaws, and more specific information about the Presidential Term and responsibilities can be found in our Handbook. You can also contact me (Faith Huff) at faithhuff@ncslma.org to ask any questions you may have. I literally copied this text from Kristy because why improve on perfection, so please know that if I can be NCSLMA President, so can you! Be brave!

You must be a current NCSLMA member to run for any office. To run for President-Elect, it is preferred that you have completed at least one 2-year term on the NCSLMA Board.

This self-nomination form will be open through Friday, May 1, 2026.

The election will be held May 4 - May 12, 2026.
