President Elect

Jennifer Abel

As a member of NCSLMA since 2011 and serving as a member of the NCSLMA executive board for the past six years, I have proven my dedication to this organization. Serving as the Treasurer for NCSLMA has allowed me to see the inner workings of annual conferences and NCSLMA and network with media coordinators across the state. I believe I would be a good candidate for president-elect with my 19 years of library experience and the network I have developed over the years as a librarian and a board member.

I have been an educator in N.C. or over 20 years. I have had experience as a fourth and fifth grade teacher, Assistant Principal, and Media Coordinator. I have been an Elementary Media Coordinator for the past four years and find it as one of the most rewarding jobs in my educational career. I also serve my school district as the District Media Lead.

My name is Amy Ralph and I have been an educator for thirteen years. This is my seventh year as a media specialist in Lexington City Schools. One of my greatest strengths is providing and planning professional development for educators. Over the last seven years I have provided monthly professional development for my staff. I have also presented at our district’s beginning of the year professional development annually . I have helped educators grow using their own expertise by presenting and or organizing Edcamps at the district, state, and national levels. I have presented at nErDcampMI three times, assisted my district in planning our own Edcamp, and I am the primary organizer and a co-founder of @nErDcampNC. I have presented at the NCSLMA annual conference five times and I was a state expert during the first year of the mentor/mentee program. Currently I am on the professional development team at the district level. I am also a member of the district technology team (I3 team). I have a passion for our profession and believe that we play a major role in supporting the students and teachers in our state. I would like to share my passion through Leadership in NCSLMA.

Sara Levin

Sara Levin is going on her 15th year as a Media Coordinator and 18th year as a librarian. A graduate of the ECU MLS Program, Sara has presented curriculum, collection development, and grant writing sessions at NCSLMA, NCTIES, and the ECU Joyner Library Librarian to Librarian Networking Summit. Currently, Sara is the Media Coordinator at Kinston High School where she coaches Science Olympiad among other academic teams. At the district level, Sara is a coach for Lenoir County Public Schools' First Tech Challenge Robotics Team. Sara currently serves as a HBOB Region 2 Chair, NCSLMA Google Meet Coordinator, and is enrolled in the 2021 NCSLMA Leadership Academy.

Sara believes that libraries are shaped by their communities and must address patron needs in every decision. With many of us working as the sole school librarian in our buildings, Sara recognizes the importance of collaboration among librarians across multiple settings to develop effective ways to meet our patrons' needs. She hopes to continue the excellent PD and collaboration the Coastal Region has come to love and expect while also adapting it to meet the region’s ever changing needs.
